Anat Perets – Teacher

Anat Perets, an Israeli native, has lived in the DMV area for over 20 years. She has taught children of all ages – from toddlers as young as two to middle school students and beyond – using a variety of educational approaches.

Anat has a deep passion for teaching Hebrew and fostering a love for Israel and Judaism. She finds joy in watching children grow, share their ideas, and express themselves creatively. One of her guiding principles in education is חנוך לנער על פי דרכו – “Educate each child according to his way.”

In her free time, Anat enjoys reading, arts and crafts, relaxing, watching TV shows, and spending time with her family. She is married, has three beautiful children, and a small Pomeranian dog. She treasures the beauty of nature and G-d’s creation, with a special fondness for butterflies, which she loves for their colors, transformation, and symbolism of freedom.

One of Anat’s dreams is to travel in a caravan from country to country. She is thrilled to join the Gan’s wonderful team and to be part of this amazing program.

Kendall Markham Shechter – Assistant Teacher

Kendall is a passionate advocate for early childhood education, the arts, and holistic living, with a deep love for nature and animals. She is the proud mother of two young children – a four-year-old daughter and an almost two-year-old son.

Outside of her time at the Gan, Kendall enjoys exploring the outdoors with her family, engaging in arts and crafts with her children, running on local trails for fresh air and exercise, and baking in her kitchen.

Liz Sander – Assistant Teacher

Originally from New York, she lives with her husband, Mark, her son, Jeremy, and their dog, Cheyenne. She has worked in early childhood education since 2003. Her love of teaching and passion for watching children learn, grow, develop, and thrive have brought her immense joy throughout her career.

When she is not at work, she can often be found swimming, exercising at the gym, walking outside with friends or her dog, gardening, or cheering for New York sports teams.
